Personal guidance in English. Confidence on the road. Would you like to get your driving licence in Germany, but feel more confident discussing the process and learning to drive in English? At Fahrschule Adrian, you can receive advice, register for your training and take practical driving lessons in English. Ragnar is the owner and head of Fahrschule Adrian. Together with the team, he provides personal support for learners from many different countries. We explain what happens next, which documents you may need and which part of the process is handled by the driving school, the authority or the testing organisation. The official theory test can be taken in English. The regular theory classes at Fahrschule Adrian are held in German. Driving licence training

Car & trailer

Choose the standard category B, accompanied driving from age 17, combined automatic and manual training with B197, or automatic-only training with B78. We explain the differences and help you choose the route that fits your plans.

If you plan to tow a caravan, larger trailer or another vehicle combination, category BE training covers coupling, manoeuvring and safe driving on public roads.

Motorcycle & B196

Motorcycle training focuses on safe vehicle control, early hazard recognition, visibility and independent riding.

B196 may be suitable if you are at least 25, have held category B for at least five years and want to ride a light motorcycle of up to 125 cc in Germany. There is no separate theory or practical test for the B196 course. Code 196 is valid only in Germany and is not the same as a full category A1 licence. Fahrschule Adrian does not offer training for mopeds, scooters or category AM.

Personal guidance

People by your side

Meet our instructor team and find out who will guide you.

What can you expect from us?

  1. Family-run

For us, family means above all getting on well together, taking a genuine interest and being there for each other. That is exactly how we want to work with you.

  2. Your route is what counts

We look at what you can already do, where you need support and which learning pace suits you.

  3. Open and international

Our instructor team speaks German, Romanian, Hungarian and English. Advice, explanations and practical training are possible in these languages depending on the category and the appointment. Just ask us what works for you.

  4. By your side when you feel unsure

Nervousness, self-doubt or test pressure can be part of learning. We take that seriously and help you build confidence step by step.

  • advice, registration and organisational support in English
  • practical driving lessons and feedback in English
  • the official theory test available in English
  • family-run driving school with training experience since 2000
  • guidance for EU, EEA and non-EU driving licences
  • refresher lessons for Munich traffic and the change from left-hand to right-hand traffic

What can we do in English?

English support at Fahrschule Adrian is not limited to a translated website. You can use English during several important stages of your training.

  1. Advice and registration

We can discuss the available driving licence categories, the structure of the training, your previous driving experience and the documents you may need. You can also complete your driving-school registration with support in English.

  2. Organisational support

We explain the difference between registration at the driving school and the official application at the driving licence authority, known in German as the Führerscheinstelle. We help you understand the next steps, while the authority remains responsible for legal decisions and processing times.

  3. Practical driving lessons

Instructions, explanations and feedback during your practical lessons can be provided in English. You can ask questions immediately and discuss difficult traffic situations without first having to find the correct German words.

  4. Clear feedback on your progress

You should know what you can already do safely, what still needs practice and why a particular exercise matters. Your learning plan is based on your progress rather than on a fixed number of practice lessons.

What takes place in German?

Important: the regular theory classes and the “Du schaffst das!” course at Fahrschule Adrian are held in German.

  1. Theory classes

The compulsory theory classes at Fahrschule Adrian are taught in German. English-speaking learners are welcome to attend. During your English consultation, we can explain the structure of the theory programme and the sequence of the required subjects.

  2. Theory test

The official theory test can be taken in English. English is one of the foreign languages approved for the theoretical driving test in Germany. Choose your test language early and prepare with current learning material for the correct driving licence category.

  3. Practical test

The official practical test is always conducted in German. Before your test we prepare you for the procedure and practise the terms and instructions you need, so you understand everything the examiner asks of you.

  4. “Du schaffst das!” course

The additional course for exam anxiety and confidence is held in German. English-speaking learners may attend if they can follow a German-language session.

How it works

Your route to your driving licence

  1. Advice, registration & application

We answer your questions, find the right licence category, register you with Fahrschule Adrian and explain the documents you need for the official application.

  2. Theory classes & theory test

You attend the German-language classes, study and then take the theory test.

  3. Practical training & practical test

We practise the important driving situations and prepare you for the test. With BF17 you then drive with an accompanying person at first.

The three steps show the regular training; theory and practice can partly run in parallel. Different requirements apply to licence extensions and training courses, depending on the offer.

You will find every step and all the documents under Your route.

Back behind the wheel

Already licensed, but not yet comfortable driving in Munich?

You may have taken a long break, learned in a very different traffic environment or never driven in Germany before. Refresher lessons give you time to practise without test pressure and focus on the situations that matter to you.

  • busy urban traffic in Munich
  • priority rules, lane changes and complex junctions
  • cycle lanes, pedestrians, buses and trams
  • parking, reversing and turning manoeuvres
  • rural roads and motorways
  • driving a manual or automatic car
  • switching from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic
  • important German traffic terms and road signs

The explanations and feedback can be provided in English. We adapt the lesson to your existing experience, your valid driving entitlement and your personal goals.
